Update June 2022
The challenges installing the bricks honoring the Class of 2020 remain a continuing frustration. As a token of our gratitude for your patience and support we are offering each supporter their “keepsake brick” (the extra one that will not go into the ground as a result of all the bricks being printed in grey instead of red). If you have purchased the keepsake brick in December of 2020 you will be offered a refund. Delivery details have been provided in an email sent in June 2022 and found in the links "June 2022 Email Letter to Donors" and "June 2022 Keepsake Delivery Form" on the left. Phased Installation

All around the nation the Class of 2020 missed out on the traditional end of year activities and graduation processions.
The North Fort Myers Red Knight Foundation celebrates the Class of 2020 Red Knights by etching their names in stone and making each student a permanent part of the North Fort Myers Campus!

Phased Installation
- As many bricks as possible will be installed in the existing space. See FAQ below:
- Additional auditorium sidewalk 12' x 6' area needs to be removed to accommodate all bricks.
- New space to be installed with "full set of blank bricks" to easily install future purchases.
Questions and Answers
What Are THE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE BEEN ENCOUNTERED?
MURPHY'S LAW! There have been numerous factors contributing to the installation delays and frustrations.
Time to verify the orders
Each order was verified with each supporter for spelling and content. There were a quite a number of changes.
Loss of Volunteer Team
Our volunteer team informed us they were no longer able to take on the job.
Order Misprint
The order arrived with all gray bricks instead of red.
Restrictions on Campus
COVID only added to the difficulty of being able to meet with contractors as well as recruit volunteers for all Foundation needs. Also a new section of sidewalk can only be opened when school is not in session. The best time for this is over the summer and possibly during the winter break.
Construction Backlogs and Rising Costs
Difficultly finding contractors due to construction backlogs, rising costs and the size of the job. The job is too small for some, too large for others.
Even the recent delivery of the reprinted bricks went to the wrong address:(

WHAT IS THE CURRENT PLAN?
We have some room left in the existing installation. We have decided to install as many bricks as we can in this space using the existing pattern, but unfortunately, cannot fit every brick. There is a pattern to follow that includes 8x8 bricks and 12x12 bricks. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to delay the installation of their brick. Too few volunteers and we will randomly choose the set of bricks to lay, too many volunteers and we will randomly choose the extra bricks needed from the volunteer list.
For the additional space needed, the goal is to break the installation up into as many small tasks as possible, rather than finding a single contractor. We would like to install a full set of blank bricks to match the engraved bricks so that future orders can easily be filled. The Foundation needs help to execute this plan. Our brick marketing chair and Foundation board members have limited experience in these areas.

- Demolition and removal of the sidewalk
- Tree root preparations
- Paver installation and supplies
- Ongoing maintenance

How WILL IT BE DETERMINED WHICH BRICKS WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE EXISTING SPACE?
We have some room left in the existing installation. We have decided to install as many bricks as we can in this space, but unfortunately, cannot fit every brick. We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to further delay the installation of their brick. Too few volunteers and we will have to randomly select the set of bricks to lay in this first batch, too many volunteers we will randomly choose the extra bricks to fill the space from the volunteer list.
